When you think of an office job, do you think of sitting in a cubicle among a sea of cubicles, filing papers all day? Well, not all office jobs are like that. And not all office jobs are with the government or corporations. There are several different kinds of office jobs that you can pursue that will keep you engaged. They can also be very rewarding. Here’s a list of places where the office positions are much more than just answering the phones.
Non-profit organizations
Working for a non-profit organization can be unbelievably rewarding. Helping to run the office gives you a chance to help those in need every day. And besides answering the phone and filing documents, you’ll get a chance to interact with those people that the organization is helping out. You will also be helping with any fund-raising that the organization does.
Medical offices
As a medical assistant you’ll do much more than just make appointments and answer the phones. Once you take a course at a medical assistant school you’ll be trained to take patient histories, apply casts, draw blood and assist in minor surgery among other things. This is a hands-on position that will see you assisting the doctor and helping out patients on a daily basis.
Vet clinics
When you work in a vet clinic as an assistant, you help with everything from holding and calming animals during examinations to trimming nails. You’ll also help pet owners with information, choosing the right food and just making them feel at ease, taking their calls and making appointments for their sick or injured pets.
Schools
The school office is quite often the center of a school. And the office manager and assistants are the first ones that students, parents and other visitors see. When you work in a school office you help students and deal with any parental issues that you can. Quite often just having a friendly face in the office is enough to help some students.
